federal student loans, DON'T DO IT

Because students have no other option that to send money and watch their student loan debit increase.  The government, Department of Education, and most especially the Ombudsman Group at the US Government are not interested in ensuring students rights. My loans have been bought and sold many times with thousands of missed payments and complete refusal by Sallie Mae and Great Lakes to honor programs such as Income Based Repayment or Unemployment Deferment.

Many letters to the Ombudsman Group:

Whom were to busy to ask anymore of Sallie Mae and Great Lakes than the balance due.  No assistance or questions about processing application for federal mandated assistance programs.  This has been the last eight months of my life, spending all free time on the phone or writing letters so the fines and interest can not only stop piling up but after properly servicing my account THE BALANCE SHOULD BE LOWER.  If Great Lakes and Sallie Mae can apply fines and interest then why do they not have to recalculate these monies when they have admitted to making a mistake.

Both already admitted to wrong doing using my email to create electronic accounts relieving them of any duties to mail me information then because I got no bill had no one to pay.  The Better Business Bureau can be quite helpful here.

Never-mind actually getting correct tax documents or an account statement, below is the latest in my weekly faxes to Great Lakes hoping to one day only be held responsible for monies that I actually owe.

My next steps are filing complaints with the Office of Inspector General (http://www.oighotline.ed.gov/hotline/instruction.aspx), Consumer Protection Bureau (http://www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint/) and a good lawyer.

Hopefully to inspire others I would like to share that Sallie Mae has previously admitted to fraudulent behavior against student loan borrowers and settled for over 40 million.  All we can do is file a complaint, so file with complete truth and documentation and TELL A STUDENT.

To Whom It May Concern at Great Lakes,
IT IS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING THAT GREAT LAKES CONTINUES TO LIE AND REFUSE TO PROPERLY PROCESS FEDERAL MANDATED PROGRAMS.  YOU LOST A COMPLAINT TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU ALREADY THIS YEAR BECAUSE YOU FAILED TO PROPERLY GAIN AGREEMENT FOR ELECTRONIC RECORDS DISCLOSURE AND ADMITTED TO FAILING TO CONTACT ME AFTER TAKING OVER MY ACCOUNT.
BECAUSE OF THE ONGOING FAILURES OF GREAT LAKES AND THE CONTINUING LIES THAT THE COMPANY OR ANY OF REPRESENTATIVES WILL ACTUAL CORRECT ISSUES CAUSE BE GL INCOMPETENCE OR NEGLIGENCE INSTEAD I CONTINUE TO PAY FINES AND INTEREST.
GREAT LAKES BECAME RESPONSIBLE FOR MY ACCOUNT 5/30/2013.  MY ACCOUNT AT THAT TIME INCLUDED AN APPLICATION FOR UNEMPLOYMENT DEFERMENT.  YOUR AGENT AGREED TO CORRECT THIS DURING A RECORDED DISCUSSION IN FEBRUARY 2014 WITH REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE US DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION ON THE CALL.  I HAVE PROVIDED THIS DOCUMENTATION AND AGAIN ATTACHED THE RELEVANT REQUESTED DOCUMENTATION.
AS OF JULY 2013 I CONTINUALLY APPLIED FOR A INCOME BASED REPAYMENT PROGRAM THAT GREAT LAKES AGAIN IGNORED.  AGAIN GREAT LAKES AGREED TO PROPERLY PROCESS THIS APPLICATION FEDERALLY MANDATED ASSISTANCE PROGRAM DURING A RECORDED DISCUSSION IN FEBRUARY 2014 WITH REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE US DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION ON THE CALL.  I HAVE REPEATEDLY PROVIDED INFORMATION OF UNEMPLOYMENT DURING 2013 AND QUALIFYING FOR INCOME BASED REPAYMENT OPTIONS FROM JULY 2013 TO JANUARY 2014.
I HAVE PROOF THAT GREAT LAKES HAS RECEIVED NECESSARY DOCUMENTATION AT-LEAST TWICE THIS MONTH.  LETTERS RECEIVED FROM GREAT LAKES PROVE EITHER INCOMPETENCE OR FRAUD TO INCREASE OUTSTANDING AMOUNTS OF LOANS.

Aware of over $10000 in fees and penalties because of failure to process applications for federally mandated programs such as unemployment deferment. Interesting to learn whom voted for these changes that is elected.
