Since surgery…
After the surgery (on 4/3) the tooth area was throbbing and swollen but most of the swelling went down with ice over the first two days. Packing extended on tooth #1 and forward two teeth, most of the work was done between 1 & 2 where a hole is now that retains food even though there is no space between the teeth. For the first four days I was very tired and had trouble staying awake, napping after meals or even going for a drive. My right cheek was warm on Sunday and I continued to ice the area along with my jaw/neck muscles. Stiffness was through my cheeks down to my throat also in the back of neck also restricting motion. Pressure continues in my head but had decreased since the surgery. Drainage continued causing nausea but I kept eating plain wheat bread and yogurt once I could chew on Saturday. Ginger ale did not help with the nausea. The taste is horrible but after the first 24 hours did not contain blood anymore.
I went to work on Monday and was feverish in the early afternoon so I called the surgeon who gave me a ten-day course of antibiotics, which I am still taking. By Wednesday my energy level had returned and I was allowed to return to regular physical activity. My cheeks and throat are still full of tight muscles effecting swallowing. My neck is stiff with muscle knots causing a restricted range of motion and pain extending down my back. Still I am experiencing drainage that is not blood but filled with white sticky stuff.
The surgeon examined the site and was happy to see how well the surgical site had healed. I asked about the continued drainage was told that is “should clear up soon”. I have a dental cleaning next Friday and will speak with my dentist then. The surgeon did send a note to my regular dentist after the appointment. As every time I eat more food gets stuck under the crown on #1 yet there is no space between the teeth 1& 2, my dentist and I will discuss this during the cleaning.
And now we can another $500 on top of the over $12,000 that I spent last year to fix MY FIRST MA DENTIST's mistake.
